It was only a few days ago that the trailer of The Fakir of Venice came out. Apart from the acting and story, the magic of AR Rahman had everybody’s eyes glued to their screens.
With the first song of the movie titled Wako naam fakir released yesterday, it is obvious that ARR is keeping his word to always bring something new and original to the table. But apart from the music, the maestro has lent his voice to Sant Kabir’s lyrics.
Wako naam fakir is from the history books and the music matches - it is orchestrated by classical western instruments. The song is thus a perfect mix of two traditional cultures. The cello sounds are intriguing and intense, especially when you watch the music video. The acoustic guitar sounds soothing and even the plucking sounds don't feel like an extraneous musical element. There isn’t any part of the song where the teachings of Sant Kabir’s lyrics are overwhelmed by the music.
Keeping the music as simple as Sant Kabir’s teachings and philosophy, AR Rahman is joined by Arjun Chandy and Abhay Jodhpurkar in the vocals.
The Fakir of Venice feels like another musical masterpiece by the maestro. How would you rate the song? Share your thoughts with us!
