The Sufi music genre has always interested music listeners throughout the world and Abida Parveen is a name to reckon with when it comes to Sufi music. A singer and instrumentalist, she has recently collaborated with Atif Aslam for a song called Pardadari. The song was released on the auspicious occasion of Eid.
Pardadari is composed by Abida Parveen and written by Hazrat Bedam Shah Warsi. The song starts with Atif Aslam’s voice and Parveen joins him later, starting with the harmonium. While the song typically falls into a folk genre, the mix of musical instruments used is very interesting. Among with some folk instruments like harmonium and tabla, the music also includes sounds of guitars, keyboards and drums.
It had been quite some time since we heard Atif Aslam’s voice in a folk song. While this was the first time he collaborated with Abida Parveen, the Sufi Queen has worked with many Bollywood musicians like Salim Merchant, Sulaiman Merchant and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan to name a few.
