Sanaya Irani is a well known television star, whom you may remember from her role in Fanaa, the Kajol-Aamir Khan film. Now she is playing the lead in a new movie directed by Vikram Bhatt, a spook-fest fittingly called Ghost. Her co-star is Shivam Bhaargava, who has been in Ishaqzaade and a couple of other productions. They are both young, goodlooking and decent actors. So put them together, even in a movie that insists on yelling ‘Boo’, and you expect some degree of magic.
And there is a little chemistry between the two in the first song from the film, Dil maang raha hai. The tune is old fashioned, the lilt gentle and digestible, composed by Sanjeev-Darshan, with lyrics by Sanjeev Ajay. Dil maang raha hai is sung by Yasser Desai, who sounds a lot like the universal favourite, Arijit Singh. While the song is not hugely interesting or memorable, it is innocuous enough to be incorporated into a dramatic plotline rather than sticking out like the proverbial sore thumb. And that is why it works….
