Have you heard Memories, the new Maroon 5 single?

Adam Levine may have left his judge’s chair behind on The Voice USA, but he is making fabulous music to make up for that vacuum. Maroon 5, with Levine as its lead singer, has just released the audio of a new single called Memories. Listen to it here:

It is reflective and emotional, talking about people who are no longer around. Those were good times, the story goes, but they are now past. The chorus is strangely heartbreaking, especially the last line:

Here's to the ones that we got
Cheers to the wish you were here, but you're not
'Cause the drinks bring back all the memories
Of everything we've been through
Toast to the ones here today
Toast to the ones that we lost on the way
'Cause the drinks bring back all the memories
And the memories bring back, memories bring back you…

Memories is the follow-up to the fabulous Girls like you, which was top of the charts in the USA. This one has a subtle rock vibe and gave us the feels as we played it once…and then again. Levine’s falsetto is used to full effect. He tweeted to announce the song:
“This song is for anyone who has ever experienced loss. In other words, this song is for all of us.” For you and for us and for the entire human race, perhaps?
