Lita Ford (61)

Born in the UK and brought up in the USA, Lita Ford was inspired by Ritchie Blackmore's work with Deep Purple and began playing the guitar when she was 11 years old. At 16 she joined the Runaways, a rock band that released its first album in 1976. Ford's lead guitar became integral to the band's sound until it broke up in 1979.
