Billie Eilish: a teen chosen by teens

The Teen Choice Awards 2019 celebrated outstanding talent from film, music, sports and more. But the person who made the night an extra special one was pop sensation Billie Eilish. You might wonder, how did she make it special when she was not even there, right?

The 17-year-old was adjudged Best Female Artist at the awards, chosen by people her age or even younger.

Billie has been making all the right noises with her unique music and IDGAF attitude. Her lyrics and music, created with the help of her brother Finneas, have been fascinating fans on various digital platforms. Her musical journey started in 2015 and by 2016 she was already charting on the Billboard top 100. She’s gone from low-key ballads like Ocean eyes to the dramatic pop-hop Bury a friend. But what grabbed the attention of music fans all over the world was her pop-trap and nu-goth song Bad guy. She got four nominations for it at the TCA in the categories of Choice Female Artist, Choice Song: Female Artist, Choice Breakout Artist – which she won - and Choice Summer Tour.

But even with four nominations, the singer gave the night a miss. And her reason for not being there to collect the SurfBoard? The teen superstar shared an Instagram post saying, “I Have Some Crazy Things On The Wayyy For Youu”. Now that has us wondering even more...

Though her fans may have been disappointed by her absence, this news should bring joy - that their favourite singer has something special planned. We predict that this is not the last time that Billie will win an award. But for now, we wait and watch...

And as you hang around with us, listen to Bad guy by Billie Eilish...
