There are Holi songs and Holi songs and this new release is a Holi song to beat all. Jai jai Shiv Shankar from War, starring Tiger Shroff and Hrithik Roshan, is a celebration of colour and style, dance and music, youthful energy and mature cool. Yes indeed, the number is all about intricate steps, machismo and intensity, with talent and showmanship coming out tops.
This one is sung by Benny Dayal and Vishal Dadlani, with music by Vishal-Shekhar and lyrics by Kumaar. The doitara is played by Vishal and the percussion, which thumps right through the song, is by Dipesh Varma, Keyur Barve, Omkar Salunkhe, Shikhar Naad Qureshi and Satyajit Jamsandekar. Joining the lead singers in the chorus are Umesh Joshi, Vijay Dhuri, Swapnil Godbole, Janardan Dhatrak, Varun Likhate, Yash Kulkarni, Pragati Joshi and Aditi Prabhudesai.
But more than the music, which is catchy and has a beat that will be on the loop during the festival season, we are sure, is the performance by the two stars, choreographed by Bosco-Caesar, working together after a while going solo, we read. Both are phenomenal dancers and this is a special duel of the footwork, wethinks. Hrithik personifies laid-back coolth in every frame, his new haircut and that oh-so-casual swagger defining a distinctly different and much more mature character than his usual intense persona in every film. Tiger, on the other hand, is patently the new gun, all pent-up energy and the need to excel over someone who is his senior and was considered his better. And now? We’’ just have to see who wins this war, no?
What do you think? Who wins your vote as the better dancer? And did you like the song, Jai jai Shiv Shankar? We want to know!
