It’s time for the Elephant God to leave after ten days of celebrating with us, and for us to pray that He returns to us next year. And at the tail end of the festival of song, dance and deliciousness comes a song from Jubin Nautiyal in praise of Lord Ganpati. This one goes…
Ek do teen char, Ganapati tere jay jaykar
Panch cche saat aath Ganapati teri kya baat!
Duniya ke raja, mere ghar bhi aaja
Dil mein bhi raaj tu hamesha

This is a fun song, combining that tapori element that is so much a part of Mumbai and its everyday ethos, with a deep and complete devotion to the deity that is so part of local culture and lore. In this song, which features a beefy Arjan Bajwa and a pretty Hritiqa Chheber, Jubin sings lyrics by Murali Agarwal to music by Raaj Aashoo. And even as the hero bows his head and folds his hands in praise of the Lord, he is trying his best to attract the attention of the heroine. The song has the same cheeky adoration of Ganesha, and we expect to hear it more than often as the idols are taken to the water for visarjan!
What do you think of Oh Ganesha by Jubin Nautiyal? We liked it….did you?
