Making Divine music

So you know a lot already about Gully Boy, the Zoya Akhtar directorial with Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, hai na? Did you know that the idea of the film was inspired by the Gully Gang, a group that includes Divine, a rapper that is better known to his own family as Vivian Fernandes? The gully boy, who grew up in Mumbai, has worked on Roots, a new single, which he describes as “my origin, my soul, the centre of everything I do”. This one also includes Raja Kumari, last heard in Allah duhai hai from Race 3. The two of them have been applauding each other in interviews and tweets all the time, so we expect a lot from this one. And Bollywood is a collective fan of Divine, dancing to his hip-hop music and generally telling the world about it. So does this mean that the film will be a hit? With the actors being superstars already and the music sounding interesting, how can it be anything else? And then, of course, there is that little devil called fate!
