Vidya Balan is one of the most versatile actresses of Hindi cinema. After making her mark in Hindi movies, the actress is all set to make her debut in Telugu cinema with the biopic on NTR. She has been roped in to play the legendary actor - politician's wife Basavatarakam. In preparation for the role, Vidya met NTR's family and has also been taking music lessons because NTR’s wife was trained in harmonium.
Speaking to the leading daily, the Tumhari Sulu actreess revealed that, ‘’A lot of the inspiration for the character is drawn through imagination as there is very little public information available on NTR’s wife. She is a very private person even though she was married to a public figure. People knew of her but they didn’t know her. That was interesting for me as an actor. There has not been much material in the public domain about her. That’s basically the preparation I am doing…this will be my first Telugu film so it’s exciting.”
When she met NTR’s kids, she got sneak peek on their mother and how she was as a person. The reason behind learning the harmonium is that Vidya believes that it would make it look authentic on screen. The actress is excited as she would get to learn a skill and her training in Carnatic music has also helped her. She has done three to four sessions with musician Nitin Shanker to learn the notes and play the instrument. Isn’t that Amazing?
The NTR biopic directed by Krish stars NTR’s son Nandamuri Balakrishna in the title role. Rana Daggubati has been roped in to play the the role of NTR's son-in-law Chandrababu Naidu, the current Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. The movie is expected to hit screens in January 2019.
