The first song from the Rajkummar Rao-Mouni Roy starrer Made in China is out. We’re still deciding how to react, but here is the first opinion…Neha Kakkar seems to have got over her seemingly suicidal trauma and is singing well again, not the same old-same old. The Sachin-Jigar-composed music is a delightful blend of conventional garba and EDM, with the husky, cracky voice of Neha and the more rooted, classic tone of Darshan Rawal singing lyrics by Niren Bhatt and Jigar Saraiya being the perfect complement. Have you heard/seen the song? No? Here, just for you:
So we have some more comments to make about this song. While we like the beat and the tune that swings between conventional garba and something far more interesting and modern, our eyes were fixed on Mouni’s very talented belly button. It wiggled, it jiggled, it swung and dipped and did more than her various expressions did to capture our attention. Of course, we couldn’t help wondering why she was doing all the dance moves in her bra and petticoat, but what do we know about costume design in films! Rajkummar shows off his dance ability – did you know he learned before he became a Bollywoodian? And his silly smile at seeing the seductiveness of the lady of his life is endearing, to say the least.
Snide cracks aside, we are looking forward to Navratri this year. Of course, it is obvious that Odhani from Made in China will be on every garba playlist!
