Pataakha’s title track is out and it’s feisty!

While we wait for this firecracker of a film, we listened to a new song from the movie album - and its one hell of a track.

The title song of the brand new film Pataakha was released today and it’s great fun to watch - the sisters bicker, banter, throw insults and arguments back and forth and occasionally get along.  This peppy, upbeat number is sung by Vishal Bharadwaj, his voice backed by a jazzy accordion, a violin that embodies the fiddle ethos and the light thud of drums. Gulzar has written this one, which is composed by Bhardwaj himself. The singer takes full control of the song, stressing that there will be fireworks: left fireworks, right fireworks, everywhere fireworks! There are several instrumental cameos to change it up, which works with the simple, repetitive lyrics, but these do not ease the feeling of Pa-taa-KHA!

The film is about two sisters, Badki and Chhutki, who grow up in a small village in Rajasthan and are constantly at war with each other. But when marriage separates them, they realise they cannot live without - or even with - each other.
