The very same year he released his debut album For You which was followed by a self-titled album. He played almost all the instruments. This album has his first hit, I wanna be your lover.
Throughout the 1980s he was one of the most popular singers. In 1984 he dropped the album Purple Rain which many consider to be his greatest.
Prince is considered by many to be one of the most versatile musicians of all time. He effortlessly blended rock, funk, R&B, pop and many other genres in music. He was always open to experimentation. He was also remembered for his showmanship and flamboyant, androgynous outfits and style. In fact, he was both a music and style icon.
Many famous musicians like Lady Gaga and Lenny Kravitz were influenced by him.
On June 2, Prince died after an accidental fentanyl overdose. He left behind a rich musical legacy.
