The Atif Aslam we all know and love listening to is back with a new song titled Auliya. The Sufi pop genre that made him a favourite with Bollywood music buffs has also inspired this number. The singer may have gone rather off track for a while, and focussed on singing commercially successful romantic songs over the past couple of years. We are not saying that it was not good music and that we did not enjoy every note, but it wasn’t the vintage Atif Aslam voice that made us die-hard fans almost a decade ago. And now, he's back! And we are happy people...
Auliya is a slow number and it’s the first song released from the upcoming movie Hum Chaar. Music producer Prasad Sashte’s composition is soothing and brings out the best in Atif’s voice. Written by Shabbir Ahmed, the lyrics worship the saint-like figure referred to as Auliya in the song.
This song can easily become a favourite with Atif Aslam fans. However, it does sound a little incomplete or muted until it reaches the end. Keeping in mind that it is a slow number, the combination of the recorded audio tracks has been experimented with. That's not a bad thing, but there needs to be some percussion in the background, wethinks, to keep things interesting. Or do you think that Atif doesn’t need that at all? Is his voice and musicality enough to keep all ears on him?
