You will remember the tragedies and triumphs that India faced during the Kargil war 20 years ago. Many of India’s soldiers were heroes, but died for the country as they defended it. A special day – July 26 - has been designated to honour and remember all those who took part in the war – called Kargil Vijay Diwas, it is celebrated with pomp, ceremony and some sadness by the Indian Army. This year, there is an added element: Sameer Anjaan, the lyricist who wrote songs like Malang from Dhoom 3, More piya from Devdas and Dagabaaz re from Dabangg 2, among many others, has written a new set of lyrics for Kargil Vijay Diwas 2019. The song is called Tujhe bhulega na Hindustan and tells a touching story of a war that should not have been fought.
The Indian Army team got in touch with Sameer and asked for an anthem. According to him, "They said they wanted a Kargil anthem. They told me the entire story of Kargil, how the war happened, what problems they faced. Then they called me to Leh, Ladakh, and showed me where the Kargil War was fought, the mountains where the war took place.” The lyricist was happy to oblige, since “I never got such an opportunity in films," Sameer said in a statement. "It was a new topic for me. I wanted to write something which comes from my heart directly. After thinking a lot and after feeling it, I wrote this song."
Tujhe bhulega na Hindustan has been sung by Shatadru Kabir and set to music by Raju Singh. The video features various actors, including Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan and Suniel Shetty. Take a look and listen here
